19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his first title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
